FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything about the free GPT-6.1 Workspace AI assistant: privacy, features, limits and troubleshooting.

General

What is GPT-6.1 Workspace?

A free Chrome extension that gives you an AI assistant powered by GPT-6.1: a chat in the side panel for any question, plus AI tools inside Gmail, Google Docs, Sheets, Slides and Drive.

Is it made by OpenAI or Google?

No. It's an independent product. It uses OpenAI GPT-6.1 models through an API and works with Google apps in your browser, but it isn't affiliated with OpenAI or Google.

Is it a ChatGPT alternative?

For everyday tasks — writing, summaries, replies, explanations — yes. For ChatGPT-specific features like memory, projects or agents, ChatGPT is the better tool. See the comparison.

Which browsers are supported?

Google Chrome on Windows, macOS, Linux and ChromeOS (version 116 or newer, because the extension uses Chrome's side panel).

Which languages?

English, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Italian, German, Hindi, Japanese and Chinese for the interface. The AI can answer in many more languages.

Privacy & security

Do I need to log in with Google?

No. There's no Google sign-in and no OAuth permission. The extension works with the tabs you already have open.

Does it read my emails in the background?

No. It reads an email, document, sheet or page only when you click an AI action or send a message with the page included.

Do you store my content?

No. Content is sent to our server and the AI provider only to generate the answer and is then discarded. Your chat history is kept only in your browser.

How do I delete my data?

Open the extension menu and choose “Delete all my data”. That removes your local history and the anonymous counters on our server. Uninstalling the extension also removes local data.

Using it

How do I open it?

Click the robot icon in Chrome's toolbar or press Alt+Shift+G. You can also right-click selected text.

What is full-screen mode?

Click the expand icon in the side panel header. The chat opens in a full tab with your chat history on the left, and the side panel closes automatically. Click the panel icon to go back.

Why can't it read some pages?

Chrome protects its own pages (chrome://), the Chrome Web Store and some built-in viewers. Open a regular website, Gmail or a Google file instead.

Can it insert text into Google Docs and Sheets?

Yes. Click Insert or Replace and the text is pasted at your cursor or selection. It's also copied to your clipboard, so you can paste with Ctrl+V if a page blocks automatic paste.

What files can I attach?

Images, PDFs and text files (TXT, Markdown, CSV, JSON, HTML, code and more), up to 6 files per message.

Free plan

Is it really free?

Yes: 60 messages and 10 images a day, reset at 00:00 UTC. No card needed.

What happens when I hit the limit?

You'll see a message with the time until reset. Nothing is charged.
